About

Rachael Jones joined Thomas & LoCicero as an associate in March 2026. She is an attorney and legal scholar whose work centers on the intersection of Media, Internet, and First Amendment issues.

Rachael joins Thomas & LoCicero after serving the federal and state bench as a judicial law clerk to three esteemed judges. Most recently, Rachael clerked for the Honorable Lindsay S. Griffin of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida from 2024 to 2026. Before serving Judge Griffin, Rachael clerked for the Honorable Judge W. Louis Sands of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Georgia from 2020 to 2022, and the Honorable Judge Scott Makar of the First District Court of Appeal for the State of Florida from 2018 to 2019. Beyond her clerkship experience, Rachael served as a Legal Fellow at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press in Washington, D.C., a legal defense organization dedicated to protecting the freedom of the press and promoting government transparency. Rachael served as an attorney and fellow at the Brechner Center for Freedom of Information at the University of Florida and the Center for Media Law and Policy at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She also served as a Visiting Legal Skills Professor at the University of Florida Levin College of Law from 2022 to 2024, where she taught Internet law, Legal Writing, and Appellate Advocacy. Over the years, she has taught courses at the University of Florida Levin College of Law, the University of Missouri School of Law, and the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications.

Rachael graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2016 with honors. While in law school, she served as a Research Editor for the Florida Journal of International Law and as both a research and teaching assistant. Rachael graduated from the University of Florida College of the Arts in 2011, where she first learned the importance of our constitutional right to free speech and expression. Originally from the Destin, Florida area, Rachael now lives in Tampa Bay with her husband and their three kitties, who are each named for a famous First Amendment case. Rachael is licensed with the District of Columbia Bar.
