Philipson Elected President of W&L Alumni Board

Washington and Lee University is a private liberal arts university established in 1749. Nestled in Lexington, Virginia, it is the ninth oldest institution of higher learning in the U.S.

Philipson has been named as incoming President for the Florida West Coast Chapter of the Alumni Board of Washington and Lee University.  Mr. Philipson is an attorney serving in the firm’s Tampa office, with a practice in commercial litigation, media law, and intellectual property.  

As an alumnus of Washington and Lee University, Mr. Philipson graduated summa cum laude in 2006.  He has been an active member of the alumni association and its board for many years.  The West Coast Chapter assists in admission interviews with prospective students, as well as hosting events and facilitating corporate and foundation support for Washington & Lee’s strategic plan.

Founded in 1749, Washington and Lee University is named for two men who played pivotal roles in the University’s history:  George Washington, whose generous endowment in 1796 helped the fledging school survive, and Robert E Lee, who provided innovative educational leadership during his transformational tenure as president of the college from 1865 through 1870.
